With essays from renowned children’s book authors, each piece is an informative and inspiring call to kids of all ages to understand what’s happening to the environment, and to take action in saving our world.
Tanya Lee Stone contributed “Earth Angels” to this anthology, which is a story about how she founded a nonprofit organization called Project Angel Food when she saw the mountain of wonderful food about to be thrown out at her local grocery store. Within a few months, Stone had organized a volunteer network to rescue perishable food from area restaurants, groceries, and caterers and was distributing thousands of pounds of produce, protein, and meals weekly to nonprofits serving food to people in need in northwestern Vermont.
Stone was given a State of Vermont Governor’s Award and J.C. Penny Golden Rule Award for her Project Angel Food work.
